Welcome to J R Board Radon Remediation
J R Board Radon Remediation offers a comprehensive range of cost-effective radon remediation solutions for domestic and commercial properties in Cornwall. If you require radon detection services or radon solutions outside of Cornwall please visit our companion site UK Radon ltd.
Radon is a naturally-occurring colourless, odourless radioactive gas that is formed from the radioactive decay of uranium (found in granite). In low concentrations the gas poses no threat. However if radon is allowed to build up in enclosed spaces, such as buildings, it can, potentially, have serious impacts on the health of the buildings occupants. The main danger from high radon exposure is the increased risk of lung cancer.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) recommends that radon levels in homes should be below the 200 becquerel per cubic metre (Bq/m-3, or bq for short) 'Action' level, and preferrably below the 'Target' level of 100bq.
The Building Research Establishment (BRE) can provide advice and guidance on a range of measures available to reduce radon in your property.
In Cornwall further advice and guidance can be sought through the Cornwall Council Healthy Communities Manager.
If you live in Cornwall and the radon level in your property is above or close to 200 Bq/m-3 then J R Board - Radon Remediation can help you take action to reduce it by providing estimates, surveys, and a range of radon remediation solutions.
